Inspired by the classic rotary dial, Lightcomposer is a lamp that let’s you compose your own shade of light through a mixture of clockwise and counter-clockwise movements. Red, Green and Blue can be combined in an infinite number of ways to create a unique colour of light. The rotary dial allows you to navigate through the different levels and even to discover hidden light modes. I made it some years ago because I wanted a small desk lamp that could change it’s colours but did not require any app or other software control, just one simple and quick dial to set it.

Open Source at it’s heart Lightcomposer is an open source project. All design files and software are available for download and the IC of the lamp can be easily reprogrammed with the help of an Arduino. Feel free to modify and experiment. Write new software or print new diffusers for the lamp, all is welcome and I encourage you to share your new creation with me. Licensed under CERN-OHL-W v2 or later. All design files can be downloaded from my website (link below).

Production The PCBs are manufactured by JLPCB in China. The printing of the housing, the assembly and testing all happens in my house. Everything is packaged and shipped from Germany.

If you don’t want to build your own, you can purchase it here:
