How to make it
Yes, these are the ones from the fantastic movie Fried Green Tomatoes. And they are delicious, wouldn’t have thought it.
The Fried Green Tomatoes
- Slice the two green tomatoes with a very sharp knife into 10mm wide slices.
- Place the slices on paper towel and season with salt. This will also draw out the excess moisture.
- In the meantime you can make the remoulade.
- Prepare 1 bowl with flour, 1 bowl with the 2 whole eggs and the milk, mixed nicely and a 3rd bowl with the breadcrumbs.
- Take the slices of tomato and begin with the flour bowl, dip it in and cover completely, next move on to the egg and milk mixture and do the same and finally press them into the breadcrumbs until evenly covered.
- Place on a baking sheet and proceed with the other slices.
- Heat a pot or a large skilled with vegetable oil for frying, there should be at least 3cm or 1inch of oil to completely cover the slices. Heat the oil to 163 C (325 F).
- Put in the slices in batches so that each one has enough space.
- Fry until golden brown. Take out and place on a baking sheet to cool slightly. Add some flaky salt on-top.
- Serve like in the picture or any way you want.
- Enjoy!
The Remoulade

- Put in a bowl the mayo, Dijon mustard, whole grain mustard, garlic gloves finely sliced, the finely chopped green onion, the juice of the lime, a sprinkle of salt and the paprika powder.
- Whisk together and serve in a bowl.
